Default Piston Slap?

Do some of our trucks, say from like 99-02 have a problem with some kind of piston slap. My friend read about it somewhere and ive heard of it before...just wondering what you guys thought about it. It seems like i can hear some kind of knock or slap with my truck when it idles as well as with my dad's 01-HD.

My '02 sierra with 3100 miles does have a slight tapping noise at startup. Nothing major, a non gearhead wouldn't even notice. But I'm crossing my fingers that it doesen't get worse.

I have a O2 Denali P/U with the 325 HP 6.0L. When started in the morning it sounds like a diesel! It goes away within a few minutes and stays quite!

Got to love those hyper pistons. They run them very loose due to the silicon contents ability to grow when heated!

My 2002 2500HD with the 6.0 and my buddies 2001 1500HD also with the 6.0 both have the same thing as well as every person I have ever talked to about it. What it comes down to is that its a "free option" with the engines. Of course at the end of the day I am just dang glad I bought the 100,000mile warrenty. My truck has 16,000miles (in 5 months) and my buddes has 13,000 on it (14months). It has happened to both since the day we got them and we change oil every 3k with sythetic oil. Maybe we should start a PSA group so we can sit and whine to each other about it (Piston Slappers Annonomus) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Well mine makes a kind of loud knocking noise on the driver's side. I don't care, it doesn't use oil and I give it hell and no problems in 50k so far. If all the trucks do it then it is probably no big deal.
