Default Patriot Performance Stage II 5.3L Cylinder Heads

Anyone have these heads? Found them at Texas Speed & Performance. They sound pretty sweet, and it says for increased compression. I bet they'd throw up some good numbers.

Part #: 63-stg2-5.3

The 5.7 LS1 guys like to use 5.3 heads for higher compression, but I'm not sure if they would increase compression on a 5.3 or not. Someone else would have to chime in here about that.

I helped a good friend with two sets he had on his WS6. They never could set his springs up right and they broke on two different sets. After the second incedent, he demanded his money back, in which they did refund him, but it took nearly an act of congress to do it. So, if you are not running a high lift cam, they may be ok. The actuall head castings and port job looked good on them though.
btw.. the increased compression is aimed at the 5.7 guys but you can have them decked if you want more compression on a 4.8/5.3.

The 5.3L heads only increase compression ratio if it were taking the place of an LS1 or LS6 head. If it is replacing an existing 5.3L (LM7) head, it will not increase comp. ratio as it is the same 58cc's.

BTW the stageII LS6 heads seem to be pretty sweet

There is a lot of info on them in the car section. They love them up there... They seem to be tied with another sponsor's head-product for best bang for the buck, as far as custom heads go.

Check out thier site on the right...

There is a deal going right now with one of the sponsors - a set of Patriot heads and a custom cam for 1600-2200 (I believe) depending on your config. I'm thinking of spending my tax money on this, but gotta reasearch some numbers and what-not.

I will be running around 10psi of boost through them. If you are NA you want high compression and a big cam that will let you rev pretty high. I would stick with the 5.3L heads, although you can get their LS6 "style" heads in a 59cc chamber. The LS6 style heads do flow more cfms, but I would bet you wouldn't need it for the extra money it costs -but maybe you would if you wanted to go all out.

**just a quick note to any potential LS6 "style" head buyers...the heads are really LQ9 6.0L heads with welded up combustion chambers to increase comp. ratio. This process of welding is an okay practice. I have talked in depth with PP head users about longevity of the weld and Terry himself about the welding process. This is actually a pretty cool concept since you can get the LS6 head in any compression ratio you want. The ports are the same on the LQ9 heads as they are on the LS6 heads, so flow is the same. This also lets Terry sell the heads for the price they are.
