Hey guys. Wonder all what parts are need to swap from the 01 5.3 to a newer style lq4. Something about the flex plate and the reluctor wheel? Will ECU plug right in and then just need tuning. Injectors? Manifold? I read all accessorys are in the same position. Thanks

 

If its an LQ4, then you will need nothing as long as it is cable TB like yours.

If you mean an LY6, then you will need a crank trigger converter (changes 58x signal to 24x), cam sensor extension harness, knock sensor harness extension and I think knock sensors. Also has rectangular port intake so you must use new L92 intake and do that conversion as well. Maybe more.

 

i swapped from my 2000 5.3 to a 2001 lq4 and just had to swap flexplate to work with my 4l60e...

are you talkin newer style like 07+? I dont believe they had the Lq4 for the 07+ trucks

 

I heard the 03-05 lq4's had the best internals so i'm sure that year. Or was thinking of starting from a bare block off ebay.

Are all blocks the same? What would be need to convert if I bought this block and started the build from the engine stand?
