Paging Scream

I was looking at your sig and saw what mods you had done. I was wondering if you installed the Comp 212/218 .522/.529 114 cam, Comp 918s, Thunder Racing pushrods and how you liked that set up power wise and street- manners wise? P.S how much (approx) did the whole set up cost? I wanted some more pep but nothing too big because I didnt want to make the 4.8L engine my project engine, just have some more power in the stock engine like you have.

I had a friend install the cam, which I bought used from a member on the board. I'm getting ready to put it up for sale as soon as the LS1 swap is done, so keep an eye on the classifieds!
Driveability is not too bad. I have some cold-start idling problems, and a little hunting for idle here and there. It's not unbearable, but it is definitely not as smooth as the stocker. It has a nice lope to it in a 4.8, but not so much that it shakes your fillings out.
The combo put 272 to the wheels @ 5800. You would really need to get EDIT tuning to take full advantage of the cam's RPM range. A converter would really help too.
Without tuning and warmer air, the truck was running 15.30s/15.40s at 91-92mph. With tuning and cooler air, my best is a 14.77, with consistant 14.80s at over 96mph. I still haven't changed any fuel or timing, just shift points and the rev limiter.
I would suggest getting any parts that you need from Thunder Racing (------>)...they were AWESOME to deal with and gave me the best price on the 918s and pushrods that I could find!
Best of luck with the project!
