Default Paging OOSilverado

Hey

I see your doing a twin turbo setup.

Have you completed any parts of the setup? Do you have any pics? Are you using the stock manifolds like the aerocharger kit?

Just wondering how you are setting things up. I think if I ever try forced induction(blowers) again it will be a turbo/twin setup.

Thanks

John

for now i am planning in using the stock manifolds because i dont have the money for custom ones yet. but i do want to swap them out eventually.

i dont have any pictures yet. all i have so far are 2 T3 turbos that i am going to convert to the T3/T4 hybrids to get the airflow that i am looking for.

thats where i am at right now, and im going to use a Vortech boost proportional FMU with bigger injectors and the LS1 edit. I am going to intercool it also. it will basically look like that aerocharger kit but with garret turbos and intercoolers.

thats where i am at right now. ill keep you posted as the parts come in and get some pics

so far my biggest issue is going to be finding injectors because i dont know where to get them

Go to RC Engineering for the injectors. They can probably help you out. A couple of guys have bought bigger injectors(41# at our fuel pressure) from them that are a direct fit in the trucks. If you need something bigger they still might be able to help. Make sure your sitting down when you ask how much though.

Good luck with your project and keep us updated.

that could be a sweet set up i want all the details when you figure it out.

acording to rc engenering the 41's are the largest they can find that bolt/plug right in. they will hold you to at least 6psi, if your going for big boost you will need something larger.

as far as a fmu, you wont need one unless you go real crazy with the boost, the trucks have a vacume/boost controled fuel presure regulator, my truck runs at about 59psi with no vacume, 50psi at idle and 62psi under boost, that alone isn't enuff extra fuel but with ls1edit it is easy to add however much fuel you want at WOT. FMU's suck!!

i have learned alot about boost and fuel systems in the last month or so, still have some to learn but i am working on it. when you are ready to work on that part of your set up i might be able to help.

that fuel pressure thing is good to know. it saves me a little bit of $$$. are the injectors from the flex fuel trucks compatible with the non flex fuel trucks? what about the 8.1L injectors? what do they flow if they work?

the flex fuel injector is diferent, i ordered one just to see what it looks like.

the 8.1's are 30lb's

30lb's x 100% / .60 x 8 = 400fwhp(320rwhp)

thats at 100% duty cycle, they are not going to cut it.

the 41lb units are good for 546fwhp(437rwhp?)

i am using .60 B.S.F.C. because you are going with a turbo, these injectors would suport alot more if you were NA. and i am figuring 20% drivline loss, not really sure what people are using for the trucks. you can see the 30'b units wont get you far with a turbo and the 41lb units may not even do it for you if you decide to really push it.

you can get the more standard injectors for alot less money, something like some svo 42's, seems like i have seen those go for $200 used and they flow close to 49lb/hr at our higher fuel presure. they are not a direct bolt/plug in but they are alot cheaper and you can make them work.

in order to run the more standard style injectors, what would i have to modify?

just get some new fuel rails or would i have to do intake manifold mods? so far this is sounding like the better way to do it.

thanks a lot for all the info, this is really helping me out on this turbo project

With installing the Bosch type injector, you will need to modify your existing fuel rail. The injectors wil be about 3/4" longer than the stock injector. That raises the fuel rail and makes it skewed in the direction the intector is pointing.

The length of the injector is obvious. But since it isn't pointed straight down, the rail moves a little in the direction the injector points. You will have to bend the crossover tube to adjust it for the new rail location. Not a big deal though.

Next you will need to buy a wire harness and splice in connectors for the Bosch type injectors. Once everything is assembled, you will need to change the fuel flow with LS1 edit.

that doesnt sound too bad, it sounds like a better plan than paying more for the other injectors. do i actually have to modify the spot that the injector plugs into on the fuel rail?
