Is it possible to fab up the stock Y pipe and retain the cats and use it with pacesetter LTs?
I need cats because I don't want any more resonance, and don't want the smell. I want to do a cam swap but most said it would be worthless without headers. Thanks.

You didnt say what your truck is, but I just put some pacesetters on my 2500hd 6.0 and kept my stock mid pipes and cats. I dont have a y like the 1500's but two mid pipes that go from the manifolds to the muffler. I just took it to my local muffler shop and they made a few cuts and welds and that was it. So yes it should be possible.
And on a side note my longtubes made my truck way quiter than it was with the manifolds. It was crazy, I had a magnaflow 22" muffler welded in before the header install and it sounded really good. But after the LT install the truck sounded stock again, i couldnt believe how much the lt's quited down the exhaust note. So I had the front 2 pup cats removed and left the rear's and all is well again. The 04 2500's came with 4 cats. 2 pre cats and 2 main cats further back before the muffler.

The LT's are going to end where your stock cats would be. So if you want to keep the cats just put the headers on and make an appointment to have a Y pipe made using the stock cats.
It'll be alright putting around open header

I imagine they are open basically right under where your feet are. That's got to get the floorboard hot. I heard that was a big problem with the older Viper's. Anyways, that's irrelevant. The chances of me ever running open headers is 0. LOL.

I still have my stock Y pipe and cats so it is possible they just have to to a lot of butchering to ur stock Y pipe it get it to work... but if I had it all over I would just have had the cats removed if you ask me after a cam swap mine stock cats didnt last long... IMO
