pacesetter problem
#1
I thought that the pacesetter LT would be an easy installation. I have true dual setup and didn't think about the converters. I either have to put them side by side and then extend the harness somehow or eliminate them. But being that I live the great state of VA where everything is illegal I can't eliminate them because no shop around here will do the pipe work. Do they make harness extensions and where can I get them. And how about those oxygen simulators. How well do they work. I drove it home with open headers, WOW. What a sound. I didn't kick any codes but my ears are ringing and the interior smells like smoke. And my luck I can't roll the windows down because its raining.
I have to wait till monday to see if I can get everything buttoned up.

It is true that Pacesetter does not take into account that you may need to keep your converters. Their belief is that most of their customers do not mind switching over their exhaust to a legal system once a yesr for inspection purposes. This is what was passed to me from Fred Gerle of Pacesetter.
I wasn't aware of it either, but had already made other plan for my cats. My cats have been gutted for a while now, but ever since the new motor went in it has been just a tad much for me on the gnarley exhaust note. I love the sound, but most of the neighbors are a little older and I'm sure don't care for it much.
Anyway, I purchased a set of 3" dynatech power cats. Most aftermarket cats will not flow much better than stock, but power cats and random technology cats flow much better than stock. R/Ts flow over 500cfm, but also cost close to $500 for a pair. So, I opted for a pair of power cats, which flow right at 400cfm. My plan is to have part of the header collector cut, if necessary, put on a ball and flange that connects to the cat, then plumb in a x-pipe, and have another ball and flange just before the x-pipe, with a pair of cutouts just before my muffler.
This will not require me to need extensions on my O2 harness at all. I also plan to put in O2 bungs just after the cats. My rear O2s have been shut off by programming vs sims, which don't always work anyway.
I found a local shop here in VA in Portsmouth that has already said they would do all the work. I have just purchased all 3" mandrel bent tubing to piece it together for me. The place is Superior Performance. If you're local and want the number, send me a PM. I can dig it up for you. Not sure if they are in the phone book, by may be. I got their info off of tidewaterracing.com.

Just1975,
Well I am from the Communist Wealth of VA as well, but I currently reside in Omaha NE. I don't know anyone here, but there is always a way in VA. If you live in or around Hampton VA, go to Big Als (on Warwick in Newport News) and talk to Matt (the owner) and Steve (the welder). The will take care of you for a very good price. Tell them NITRO sent you!

Alot of the places that I found in VA are around the tidewater area. Unfortunately I live in Roanoke, the southwest area. Anywhere from 4-6hours away or more. I just ordered some extensions and I'm going to have a muffler shop move them side by side behind the transmission crossmember.

Just run no cats. Get some o2 sims and that will take care of your check engine light and when inspection time comes, they will plug the little computer in and it will pass because of the o2 sims. It worked on mine.
Cats are for whimps! lol
