The std ceramic coating on the pacesetters isn't anything impressive. It is dull and very thin. Mine was showing a few rust discoloration specs after 5k miles down low on them. I'd either order the nickle plated or the painted ones and have them jet-hotted. But if the budjet is tight, the regular ceramics are worth the money over painted IMO.

what would the total cost be to have reg ones jet-hotted? more expensive than just buying the already coated ones?

after muffler/tune, do you guys agree that these are the next best step performance modding? (before intake)

Get them coated I've had mine just under a year and they still look good.

If you dont care about looks, just performance and reliability.....how good would just getting the cheapo painted headers and throwing a lot of heat wrap around them work out? there's even some spray you can get to protect the wrap from any fluids that might drip on em

o and yes...money is obviously tight

I will say that the Thermo-tec protectant spray is the best high heat paint i've ever used. It is the only paint that actually stays on. I painted my turbo piping with it before I wrapped it and painted afterwards. I didn't wrap my turbo manifold (which gets the hottest) and the black Thermo-tec paint turned to a dark gray and didn't burn off. #1 product IMO.

Mine Pacestter cost $310 ($275 for the coating, $35 shipping and handling) total to get them Jet-Hot coated (Ca to Az). Very worthwhile, the headers are cool to the touch after about 10 minutes, after a long drive testing out the power of the newly installed headers.
