Pace headers, anyones rusting?
#1
Figured i'd ask this question, because frankly it makes me angry. I've had my pacesetter's on my truck for about 8 months now. Got them ceramic coated and looked great.
Now after maybe 20 trips that i actually drove the truck in the winter, and it serving daily duty in the spring/summer/fall, i'm getting alot of "spot rust" and where the primaries merge to the collector is rusted to hell and back.
Anyone else have this problem, and how much of a pain is it to get pace to send new ones out under warranty to replace them? My ORY isn't even coated and there's no rust on it, so i find it really wierd that the headers even have a spot on them.
Thanks,
Dave

well i figured that maybe eventually the coating might flake or something, didn't expect rust first lol. Guess i'll call em tomorrow for warranty replacements and probably bitch em out.

I have the ceramic coat and I haven't seen any spots yet, but thanks for the heads up...
This is what I found on the PS site..
Manufactured using mandrel-bent, mild steel tubing and surface-ground, thick steel flanges, PaceSetter Headers are available with standard black painted finish or ARMOE*Coat, a polished, high temperature, metallic-ceramic coating. Each ARMOR*Coated header undergoes an extensive preparation phase followed by application of the coating and a high-temp curing process. The ARMOR*Coat won't discolor like paint, chrome or dull finish coating, reduces underhood temperatures, resists rust and corrosion and is easy to keep clean. All PaceSetter Headers come with hardware, gaskets and illustrated instructions and are backed by a three-year warranty. Header bolts not included.
