Default Over driven pullies

Is there a company that makes smaller pullies out there? id like to increase the boost on my magna, but they offer only 1 pulley, whick @5800rpms makes 7lbs. i figure if i can find a smaller crank pulley I could speed up the over all drive, increasing the boost. i think im going to call whipple to se if the offer a smaller crank pulley. Is there a formula to figure out the potential boost increase from going to a smaller pulley? what size is the one from the vette, or camaro ls1? Who sells ls1edit?

ASP makes what I think is one of the best Underdrive Pulleys for our trucks. Almost anyone who has pulleys on there truck has the asp brand. I am not sure what kind of values it will change up with the supercharger and how much more boost you may get. Ask around, maybe some of the guys here already know or can figure it all out for you. Otherwise, I would look into finding a pulley for the blower that will work.

I thought the smaller crank pulley would slow the accessories down. Maybe you should just find a slightly smaller pulley and make it fit the supercharger.

You can use this formula to figure out what pulley would give you your boost goal.

Potential Boost=

Blower Displacement x Drive ratio
__________________________________ x 14.7-14.7

Engine Displacement/2

Blower displacement=?, Whipple is 2.2, not sure about the MagnaCharger.
Engine displacement=5.3
Drive ratio= crank pulley/SC pulley

Good luck, Kent

i have the smallest pulley magna has. the way the nose is set up on the assembly, i cant fit a smaller pulley on if i tried. the back of this pulley nearly scraps the nose assembly as is. Is a stock pulley from a camaro/vette larger??
Im going to call asp tommorrow. What do the Whipple users do for the crank pulley? Does whipple make one?

Just to clarify this, if i want to build more boost, I want a Larger crank pulley, or a Smaller pulley? I was under the impresion that if the crank was smaller, the whole belt drive would spin faster. I i used a Larger crank puley it would slow down the whole belt assbely speed. pulley spins faster, makes more boost??? right?

Larger crank pulley will spin the stuff faster.

Whipple makes different sized crank and compressor pulleys. I'm not sure if the crank pulley from a whipple would be a correct fit for you. Besides needing the same type of belt system, it would also need the proper offset from the existing crank pulley so it wouldn't make your belts skewed.

Yep, to increase boost, you need a larger crank and/or smaller blower pullie(s). And I dont know of any aftermarket companys that offer what you are looking for since you already have the smaller blower pully from Magnacharger. You may want to give Lingenfelter a try since he is big into Magnacharger applications.
