Default Opionions on xr275hr in my 06 sss

I want to stick a cam in my 06 sss, its all stock as of right now.

I am very interested in the xr275hr by comp cams, I have been looking at it for a while...

Figure I will go with a yank 3000 stall converter and a magnaflow exhaust down the road.

Is there any opinions about cams some mechanically inclined person might have??

As of right now I just want the cam for the idle lope sound. I dont care about hp in the truck as much. But I dont have a lot of money to put into my truck.

So my main thing is I just want the sound but I want it to run good also!
Any help is greatly apprecuiated.

For those that dont feel like looking it up it is as follows. ( Specs are more useful when asking cam questions)

222/224 Duration @ .050 inch, .566 inch/.568 inch Lift, 112 Lobe Separation

To answer your question, that cam would work just fine in your setup. You will want a stall with it as you mentioned. The idle will be noticeable but nothing crazy, be sure to upgrade your valve springs and pushrods at the same time. Also as mentioned you could PM Patrick G and get one custom spec'd.

I've been looking at this cam for my ss as well, I don't want anything too big since I still tow with it and drive it daily. I think its going to be a good choice

In an SSS this is a very mild cam. They respond very very well to bigger cams. I would go with something more aggressive. 224/228 or 226/230 are excellent in a LQ9. Throw in a 3000 stall combined with the stock 4.10s and you have a fun very street able mix. Let your motor breathe especially if you are going with a stall. The key to it driving well is in the tune. Don't be afraid or timid or you will end up going to a bigger cam later.

I have the GMPP ASA cam. Since my truck is a dd this cam is fine to me. The specs are 226/236 525/525 on a 110lsa.
