Ok 6.0 swap is back on
#1
Im gonna sell the 4.8 to dad to put in a nissan 4wd and then ill have the money for the 6.0. What parts will i need to do the swap. I saw a post a while back but cant seem to find it about the 6.0 swap with a 5 spd. What all parts will i need for this. I plan on puttin a cam in it before it goes in. Anyway what extra parts do i need or special tools for the swap? Will it bolt right up to the getrag 5 spd?
Thanks,
Derek

You shouldn't need any extra parts, as everything from your 4.8 will swap right over. Just make sure that the 6.0 you get is 01 or newer, as the 99-00 have a longer crank flange in the rear and won't bolt up to your trans. Swap your 4.8 flywheel on to the 6.0 and you'll be good to go. The PCM will need to be tuned for the 6.0 obviously.
As for necessary tools, you'll need basic hand tools, a crank pulley puller and installer, if your swapping your crank pulley over, possibly a fuel line dis-connect tool (not 100% sure, I haven't done the swap myself yet, just going by what I've read here and what makes sense from looking at my own engine). You'll also need a new crank bolt, and whatever gaskets you disturb depending on how stripped down your new 6.0 is. Alot of guys will say that the gaskets are re-usable, but I don't like re-using gaskets, except for valve cover gaskets. I don't like to have to tear into my engine to do the same job twice, but this is just my .02.
Alot of guys have done the swap so hopefully they'll chime in. Do a search for 6.0 swap and you'll come up with a bunch of info also.
