Question Oil temp sender location?

I want to put a oil temperature gauge on my 5.3L but do not have an external filter or cooler where it would be easy to put it in the line. Where would you guys suggest I put the sender? Drill a hole in the pan and put a fitting in it for the sender? Any suggestion would be most apreciated.

If you want it to be accurate then drill the pan and weld a bung in, and put the sensor in the oil pan. But you can always do it the easy way and put the sender unit in the little block located on the drivers side of your engine.
