I would disagree.

We put 100k (starting mileage was 10) on that thing and never had a single issue with it. It was an automatic to.

But alas, you bang your wife and start asking yourself, "where da fk did all these kids come from......?"

Hence the larger vehicle we now.

100k mile supercharger oil smells nice.

Been there a few times with all the 3800's I've been around.

I used to have a BMW 135i. Its the twin turbo inline 6 cylinder. It uses the cartridge style paper filter. The filter is mounted above the engine, so it drains when you shut the car off. When you pop the hood its right there. Way easier. No mess.

That being said, the oil change was the only easy maintenance item on that car. Everything else was stupid complicated and expensive. That's why its been replaced with a Grand Cherokee Overland 5.7 Hemi. Which has a 45 degree mounted filter, also a fuckin mess.

You only like it cause it is a 35. lol. My wife has a 325ci. Every single other item on the schedule is a huge PITA. Changing a PCV costs 500 bucks if you do it to the letter. POS car leaks all the time. Dying ABS controllers. You name it. If you don't have the 3.0 or 3.5 it isn't even worth owning those cars.

It was always my understanding that ALL bmw were very nice looking luxury pieces of shit...

Big
Money
Wasted

My brother in law also has an E38. The dealer quote him 2500 dollars to replace all the seals on the rear differential. Two axle seals and a pinnion seal. Not joking.

BMW can't make a valve cover gasket that doesn't leak after 20K miles --- because if they did they would have to close their doors. lol.

But the cars do live forever if you keep the schedule up. $$$$$$$

Just told my wife the Big Money Wasted joke. :D
