Default Oil pressure gauge maxed out

My oil pressure suddenly jumped to 80 psi and doesn't budge. I had stepper motor issues on my speedo before but the needle would wander and give incorrect readings. Does this sound like the pressure sensor?

In my experience when it's maxed out or bottomed out, it's usually the oil sending unit. If im not mistaken you can test it with a volt meter.

Just replaced my sending unit last week. Would go to 0 when truck was off but as soon as engine was started would go straight to 80 and never budge until engine was shut off. Replaced stepper motors first and still did it. Replaced sending unit and works like a champ now.

Thanks. I'll change the sending unit first
