Default Off the wall idea!

OK heres my off the wall idea, could we run our trucks down the quarter without the serp. belt? I mean just take the whole damn thing off? No power steering/ AC/ ALT / water pump to rob horses? Just an idea what do you guys think the gains would be? the only problem may be the water pump so how about a small belt just to drive that ? Please dont all think Im an idiot! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> Just some thing to think about for those little tenths!

This is done all the time at the track....I wouldn't do it in a computer controlled vehicle being as the volatge/power is the essence of the vehicle's ability to function.

Some use a "short belt" to the alternator only or to the devise they feel is most important.

I say just get the underdrive crank pulley and a underdrive alt pulley if you ant to free up some HP...4500 lbs is not light chore to turn w/o power steering.

what type of power gains would you expect from no belt? And it doesnt burn up the motor, I have 2 batteries should this help the voltage?

Power gains are very minor...many who do it count the benefits in the hundredths in the 1/4 mile over an underdrive pulley. The motor will heat but thats why this is a DRAG ONLY mod.

You would be better off putting both batteries in the bed and not worrying about the belt or voltage issues.
