Default NY Emissions?

I was looking to get some lt headers for my truck. The headers have what I've been told to be fake cats. Does anybody know a way to pass inspection without cats in NY? I was told that I could have my rear O2 sensors programmed out, but not sure if that would work. What would it read if they are disabled? Has anybody done this in NY?

I live on long Island and have long tubes with gutted cats...I had my tuner turn off the rear o2's so they wouldn't throw a code. The only thing you really have to worry about when it comes time for inspections in NY is the SES light. if there aren't any codes you'll pass. Its as easy as getting it tuned.
Another alternative is 02 sims, they plug into the harness going to the sensors and fool your pcm into thinking everything is still stock.

in NY you must have a visual check as well where you could fail for not having cats or o2 sensors

They look like they are there, just have nothing in them from what I hear. When you had the rear O2 sensors shut down, did you also block your egr? I've heard of alot of people doing that on the site, but not sure if I should push my luck with that in NY.

Its only a visual check ... if the cats are there they are there, even if gutted. Real question is whether you can successfully tune out the codes. If you have a scan gauge, you may just be able to clear. I have heard they creep back even if tuned out once.

Allen at Nelson Performance did mine. I still have to get ahold of him to see if he can do it.

You should be fine. I've got long tubes cats and its all tuned. if you have no engine light ur good to go. just make sure the cats look real for the visual.
