And the talk about STR is very important when talking convertors. An efficient 3000 convertor will drive just as nice as stock and still tow just fine. Once locked however the stall speed doesn't matter making highway driving mileage virtually identical.
7500lbs sounds like way too much. My 1/2 ccsb z71 with 1/8 tank weighed 5510lb and the brother inlaws 2500hd 4x4 with about 1/8 tank gas was 6250lbs. I know the scales are within 10lbs of our local track scales too. So if your saying your truck is 7500 maybe the extra weight is causing it to flashing higher

The stock 80 converter is not a performance oriented converter, it's aimed at durability. That being said, at the same time, I doubt anyone recommending a 3000+ converter for towing purposes has used that setup. Dave @ Yank recommended a 3200 for me, as I still towed but not major. I think he said it would be good for 3-4000lbs. I decided to go with the 3600 as everyone says "go one bigger" and you'd want to pull your hair out trying to tow with it.

When it comes down to it, there's only so much you can do with 364 cubes in a 5500lb truck, let's face it. Even with the 4l80e mine rips at WOT, but can feel lazy just putting around town. Also the gearing of the 4l80 isn't helping matters getting up and going.

No way your 1500hd weighs 7500 lbs. I don't even think a ccsb dmax weighs that much...

What about the stock throttle body? It dont matter how big the headers or exhaust is since the air first has to pass through the tiny stock TB.

Stock TB is good to around 400hp. Thats not the issue.

I didn't know stock throttle body had a HP rating ... Seen stock f-body 78mm tb make over 400 rwhp plenty of times . Much less forced induction

jesus christ that thing put down horrible numbers! my 4.8 put down 315 rwhp 300 tq with just an ls6 cam and a 4.8!

Um yeah it does. That's the truck a loaded 12X40X48 Weatherguard Pack Rat, another 60" Weatherguard tool box in front of it and then the junk in the back of cab that replaced the rear seat. I know..... I actually use my truck like a truck and not run around empty because it's just a rolling tool box for me and makes up some of my charge out rate. The convertor flashed the same before I made this truck into my work pig...... I didn't specify that in this thread so I apologize.

Get some 4.56 gears in that thing, and I think you'll be alot happier. The rest of the setup seems pretty solid.
