Default Nitrous

i am thinking about running some nitrous after i get a good cam and get the intake/exhaust and all the other good stuff ported & polished & matched up. n-e-way...
1) what is the best setup to go with?
is there a difference between the direct-port injection and not having direct port injection?
2) what is the best rpm to spray? i've heard anytime over 3000rpm. i've heard of guys spraying off the line and blowing a piston.
3) up to what shot will these motors take?
4) what is meant by the term "purging"
i'm kind a dummy when it comes to this NOS stuff.
anything else i should know that will help me will also be appreciated! thanks!

* the best setup depends on what you want out of it. A dry setup will work well and is a simple install that is fairly safe. A wet setup is a little more involved but IMO safer on the motor. Just don't get a backfire.
2) what is the best rpm to spray? i've heard anytime over 3000rpm.
* generally 3000 to 6000
i've heard of guys spraying off the line and blowing a piston.
* I did not spray off the line, I don't care what anyone says. There are many ways to blow a piston. The key to N2O is the proper air fuel mixture.
3) up to what shot will these motors take?
* 100 shot is the usually. Some have run at 135 and a few up to 150
4) what is meant by the term "purging"
* when you blow out the N20 lines with N20 to make sure all the air is out of the line so there will be no delay in the spray, that is purging.

Hope that is of some help.
