next step for more power

If I were you I'd look into some 8.1 marine injectors and just get that outta the way. They are plenty big for just about anything you can throw at em unless you go FI. And a step up in cam and converter size would be my next move. Also, what gear are you running? Some 3.73S should wake it up quite a bit!

Both can be done for the price you would pay for a new cam
swapping cams will net a slightly higher peak power but your gonna lose power under the curve which you need in a crewcab and makes a good daily with no dead spots in rpm range
skip the TBSS intake with the setup you have i did it and went back to stock truck intake..lost at the track,i have a thread on it somewheres

already running a 3.73 gear....with a set of 243s milled down id have to get shorter pushrods correct? i have 7.4s now. what about running them stock? what kind of gains could be seen. everyone has a diff opinion now im not sure what direction i want to go

milled heads do require shorter pushrods correct running them unmilled will lose compression on your motor it has a dish piston
i dont see why it wouldnt gain 15-20hp from the headswap..they flow alil better 20-30cfm better and added compression
Even some 1.8 roller rockers would gain a few hp by upping the lift
we all have diff opinions on what we would do

I would get some ported and milled 862/706 heads. Get them so they're milled enough to bring your compression around 10.5:1. And of course make sure they have a good port job.
The heads I put on my 6.0 jacked my compression from 9.5 to 10.8. That along with the added flow netted me big gains everywhere, especially down low. Knocked about .3-.4 seconds of my ET.

Agreed with grey^^ you have a great setup get milled heads valve job 8.1 injectors and get a dyno tune from wheatley you should like the outcome

I figured if you're going through the hassle of swapping heads, you might as well swap on a good set. He'll be able to swap them over to a 6.0 or resell them if he has to, as they do hold their value decently. Just another opinion, that's what he's here for, right?
