New lift and performance mods for the HD!
#1
The HD got a new lift and a few performance mods this week. The Trailmaster lift was replaced with a 6.5" Full Throttle. This gave it a little more height, better ride and tucked the tires in. It also has a set of Crane 1.7 roller rockers helping the valves open/close and the programming was upgraded by Wester's (we now carry this). These mods have made the truck more responsive. It pulls much better throughout the RPM range.
This will probably be it for mods until the spring. I think I'm going to go with a set of 17" Evo wheels wrapped with 37" tires. If I do that the gears will be upgraded to 4.56s. I'm also waiting for Paxton to have their supercharger ready for the 2002 8.1s. That should be done in the next few months. They just need to get a 2002 in there to make sure the kit fits the same as 2001 and '03 plus take care of the programming.
It's kind of dirty but here are a few pictures with the new lift -

That was summed up pretty good. I've had enough of winter and it's not even December 21st yet
Had a chance to put about 50 miles on the truck over the weekend. The power increase is very noticeable from about 2500 RPMs to the shift point. I'm going to play with it for the rest of this tank and then go back to normal driving to see if gas mileage is effected by the new program. That is one thing that I'd really like to see.

What are the next mods? painted bumper cap and esky handles? or denali style?
I think that would make it look pretty damn good.
How much more lift did you get with the new one? like fender height differences ground clearance etc...?

I have a set of smooth handles from an SS. Just waiting for those to come back from being painted to match the truck. Corsa is finishing two exhausts for the 6.0/8.1 HD trucks. I have my name in for one of their split rear systems when they are ready. Only problem is it will be for a short bed truck (the long bed guys get left out
). So I'll have to extend the pipes a little.
I might upgrade my current 18" wheels with 35" tires to a set of 17s with 37s. If I do that the stock 4.10s will be replaced with a set of 4.56s. The truck currently idles along at 1700 RPMs at 60 MPH with the 35s. The last performance mod that I'm considering is a Paxton supercharger. They have this for the 2001 and 2003 8.1s. Just need to test fit a kit and take care of programming for the 2002.
The truck rides about an inch higher with the Full Throttle lift than it did with the Trailmaster and the torsion bars cranked. It now sits at 49" from the ground to the 12 o'clock position on the wheelwell. It was at 48.25" up front before I gave the t-bars a turn and a half. The ride is also very good
