Default New Heads

What do ya'll think about getting a set of stock heads to get them ported/polished and maybe a little bigger valve. I would also be putting a new valvetrain on them. Are there any major pitfalls with the stock ls1 type heads?

Thanks for the help in advance.

I've got ls-6 heads on my truck (but I get GM employee discount) I would look at some of the CNC ported heads from one of the site sponsors, internal engine has a ton of posts on heads althought they seem to be very car (f-body) centric and don't reply well to truck based questions, Oh well at least they STILL build our trucks.
