Default New Cam

I just ordered a comp cams 206/212 515/522 112 from one of the fine people on this forum. Just wondering what kind of gains I can expect with exhaust, P/P tb free mods 918 springs and a tune. I'm running 15.5's without the tune ,cam, springs. But I also have a rcsb Z-71 With about 100kmiles. No stall yet but thinking about a Trailblazer.

I went from 16.5 @ 81.7 mph (on 285's) to 15.6 @ 89.5 mph with the same cam on a 114lsa and a tuned 02 PCM (and 02 injectors since the 99's are only 21lbs and 00 and up are 24lbs) My 60' times didn't get any better though...I assume that the 112lsa will help you with that. (I'm sure a stall would help me with that)

budhayes3, how would you be running slower than me when you have a bigger motor and more mods? I ran a 15.6 at 90mph a few weeks back. the 1/4 makes no sense to me

I saw his mods and thought he was a little slow, but it is a 4x4. Of cource mine is too. I run 15.5's and dont have much at all yet. Thanks for the help though. When I get my program, can I stick to the 00 pcm, or should I go with the 02? Whats the diff? If I can cut 9/10's I **** myself. Now for that stall.

I didn't notice the tires. Thats probably it. When I went from 305's back to 265's it felt like a new truck. Funny how you don't notice the loss so much, but you do notice when you get it back.

Don't wanna hijack the thread, but to try and answer your question...I'm hoping it's the tires...always seemed to be slower than most, but never took a run with 245's or 265's to find out. The cam and tune definitely helped (9/10th's and 7.3mph faster). Might have something to do with how I launch also...I've always launched up against the converter and my 60' times are about 2.4, but I still manage to make some speed at the top end. Maybe the factory built my verter a little tighter than most

FWIW, I see you have the Hypertech 01blue4.8...I've read here that folks have knocked 4 to 5/10's off of their 1/4 time with that.

I'm sure that the weight of my PaceEdward's rolling tonneau cover doesn't help either.

I'd definitely go for an 02 PCM...makes a world of difference. The 99-00's have all sorts of KR problems and can't be tuned as well as an 02. If you do a search on 99-02 PCM swap, or 02 PCM, etc., you'll find a ton of info on it.

When I first installed my cam I was seeing 7.9* of KR every time I touched the throttle with the 99 PCM, the truck was really a dog. It ran better with an 02 PCM with the factory tune than it did with a tuned 99. Now I get no KR at all.

Cool thanks for the info. I knew the 00 had issues but was unsure about the 00. I tried stalling to about 1500 and ran a little quicker. May help?

Also. I actually slowed down with the HPP3. I ran 15.9 stock, programed it and ran 16.? But I have heard the PCM has to "learn" the program. Anyway I took it out and just left the shift points and rev limiter, and it feels the same.
