02denali, I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that a nelson tune would be a great tune. I have heard absolutely nothing but good things about him, and his skill as a tuner. I was just trying to find out why people choose him over brian, because I haven't heard any bad about brian either, and I have personal experience with him being a good tuner. So far here is how it seems to be going for me

Nelson Pros:
Excellent rep with truck crowd
Somewhat local(for possible dyno tune)
Free Re-tunes for life
Excellent #'s from what I hear

PCMforless Pros:
cheaper initial cost
excellent rep with f-body crowd
no sales tax
Excellent #'s from what I hear

Guess that I will just have to do a bit more thinking about it.

i do like nelson performance. he has done things with mine and others tunes that i havent experienced with the others i have tried. westers-predator-hyper. i have no doubt that pcmforless--brian herter is a good tuner.i have talked to him on occasions even when i was having some valve float--found out later--and he was great to talk to. either pcmforless or nelson will do you right. i prefer nelson since i have first hand experience myself and watching others to that have his tunes. good luck with either.

My 2 cents on this subject is Allen has allways returned my calls, got me my update in 3 days,no questions asked.And evan emailed me to make sure all was well.

 

So its down to pcmforless vs Nelsons. Same product, different price plans. It would appear that the earlier year trucks would be better off with Nelson's but the newer ones might be better off with pcmforless since Nelson charges quite a bit more for the newer years.

It would seem at this time that Wester's would be a poor choice. It would be $595 for a tune for my truck, plus $45 updates for the life of the vehicle and the (only advantage---->)next vehicle (but only if they can tune for it).

I've not heard anything about Ed Wrights tuning for a long time, so I'm guessing he's out as a good choice.

That leaves some of the sponsors on here that offer custom tunes ex. Texas speed, yet their price plans seem vague, and it doesn't look like many here have had much of any experience with them.

 

You want to go Nelsons hands down

words of advice

Get something to monitor A/F and Knock after you get any tune.
Go safe or else you will be sorry.
Choose Nelson not PCMforLess.
Do not let PCMforLESS tune your ride.
