Default Needing more POWER for cheap!!!!

2002 5-SPD 4.8L RCSB Silverado, K&N Intake, no cats, x-pipe, delta flow flowmasters. That's it for the time being. What are some of the cheapest but most effective performance items for this truck. I've been building 4.0L Jeep engines and that's all i know about, but i'm wantin to start something new, so i know pretty much nothing about these motors, but i need to get this truck running faster than my old cherokee (9.3@77MPH on juice, 9.8@71 on motor) I ran a 10.3 all stock in my truck, but i want to run at LEAST a 9.5 motor. I have about $900 to spend on motor, can it be done?? BTW, it was spinning one tire, 2nd gear 200 ft down track to pull the 10.3, but i'm gettin it locked up, so that shouldn't be a problem. PLEASE HELP!! One more thing, is my truck faster than the same kind w/the 5.3 w/an automatic???

i would look into a good cam and new springs, this will cost about $400 if you do it yourself
also get a good tune

smaller pulleys(there are a few kits on various web pages.. summit racing is one), shift kit (not sure if they make one for a 5 spd), posi rear and gears.

since you have experience with building motors I would do the cam and valve springs, you should get a nice gain from them more then any other bolt on.

What about a nelson tune? And what is this i hear about the MA Screen? How much HP does that give you? I've also heard that there was TB relocating thing, something about a hose going into the TB cause it to heat up or something. I'm needing some cheap simple HP gainers. About how much HP will the pulley's free up???

with e-fans you might 5-10 hp maybe
you don't want to take out your ma screen that dose not help really
a tune is well worth the money, it was the best money i spent on my truck
if you don't want to spend very much and keep good gas mileage, i would get a ls6 cam and ls6 springs. that will give you a good gain over what you have now and will not hurt gas mileage very much if any after the tune.
don't wast your money on smaller pulleys, they are not worth it, you can spend your money better on something like a tune.
the TB bypass will give you maybe 1-3 hp

Texas speed sponsor to the left can do a cam spring tune package for that price or close to it and Jason co owner has a 4.8 so he knows what up with them. Should net you a 35-45hp gain at the wheels www.texas-speed.com

For starters, get a posi.

Then next biggest gain would be a stall converter.

Then Id go nitrous

Then Id do a healthy cam.

Hope this helps.
