Default Need some motor help....

I am in a dilema....I want to do a motor swap

Local performance shop....
I provide
block
crank
covers
cam

They will bore a 6.0 .30 over
Forged eagle H beam rods
ARP everything
Mahle nitrous pistons
Polish/turn crank if need be
Slide the cam in for next to nothin
assemble all covers/assesories I give them

For 2650 or if bearings need ot be lined? 2950

Option 2......
Iron block ls1, 5.3l bored to 5.7
with hyperautic crank and rods
forged mahle pistons
arp bolts
assembled long block
just about any cam I want
Comp springs(918's)
give me 500 for my core motor

want about 26-2800 then give me 500 back when they recieve my motor.

Keep in mind if I go option one I still have to buy block, crank, cam, covers/assesories, and maybe more.

Thanks ahead of time.

Go with the 6.0l. You will be more satisfied with that than you would be with the 5.7. Also you will have better rods for about the same money. How much are you going to spray, and are you planning on using the stock crank in the 6.0l?

I will not have better rods for about the same.

The 6.0 will cost about 1000 more. Yes stock crank on both motors. I can have forged rods put in the 5.7 for a little more money.

Well, i forgot you have to still buy a 6.0l block......the 5.7 would definetly be cheaper.....you could buy better heads for the price difference in the two motors.

The first option you list with the 6.0L seems way over priced to me. An entire Eagle stroker assy, balanced, can be had for $2k. If all they are doing is providing rods, pistons and a build, $2650 sounds like too much.

You can get you block bored .030" over for under $300, Mahle pistons cost around $500, rods are not too expensive either. I paid a performance shop $500 to build my motor.

Whomever you use, go with the stroker crank. You'll be wishing you did later, IMO. Like I said, the entire Eagle assy . (stroker crank, pistons, rods, balancing) can be had for right at $2k.

If you're on a serious budget constraint, I guess it's a moot point.

What are your overall goals for the truck? Daily driver/weekend warrior or perhaps a race only setup. Are you planning on forced induction of some sort? I've been really happy with the 6.0L, and your option 1 looks almost identical to my future setup. Let's hear what you want your truck to do for the most part.
