Or you can do some bolt-on's then get it tuned. As for the CAI, I've heard bad things about the quality and fitment of the Vararam...I really like my Volant but it is a little pricey. A lot of guys have modified their stock air box and gotten gains just as good as the aftermarket units.

Don't mess with the throttle body, gains are minimal. Some long tube headers are always a nice addition, and will help in the future as you do deeper mods to the engine, such as cam and heads. Of course an aftermarket cat back exhaust, or even a muffler welded in place of the stocker will work. There is a plethora of cat-backs available...Magnaflow makes a nice unit that won't break the bank, but if you have the dough, Corsa is the best. Long tube headers are a must, don't waste your dough on shorties, unless you're in CA where LT's are not legal.

My favorite mod besides PCM tuning was my camshaft, great gains with the accompanying tuning, even with my small cam. Match a torque converter to the cam's powerband and you'll be good to go. Daily driving a higher stall converter is no big deal if you get a tighter converter and don't go too high on the stall. Check out Circle-D's 278mm reworked TrailBlazer converter for $375. Keep the stall speed around 3k or below and you won't even know that it's there during normal driving.

I know that you're concerned about fuel economy, so I won't mention the 4.10 gears that I was about to recommend
BH3, u hear more bad things about stuff.

I like my Dynatechs; also nice are ARH & Stainless Works. You'd have to find out who all make em for your yr., but I stick w/. 1 of the 3 brands. Shorties, unless u have to, are a waste I think.

I'd too pass on the TB P&P.
If you ever done a tranny or can, u can do a stall. Just swap converters.

907TBSS, when did LT's become legal in CA?

I think OP meant CAI, not actual intk manifold. There shouldn't be a big difference in intakes between any other block out there from GM.
Also, IIRC, E-fans are styd. after '05. Mine did little for ETs or MPGs IMO, other than clean up engine bay.

I'd say LTs, exh & tune, or tune & LTs / exh together, then CAI. I'm not sold 100% on who makes the best CAI. Granted I have a Vararam, & my bro has a Volant on his 02, but I've things I don't like bout both. I'd like to try a K&N or AirAid (BlackGMC has a nice 1). However, most only have $ for 1 CAI, & don't swap from 1 to another. If I had to do again, I like how Corey's looks even tho I've seen them before & if NA, I'd go w/. Airaid if I had to do again. Maybe K&N.

It's a lil different when goin to FI tho. If u want to build a Mustang eater, after some spray & the minor bolt ons, I think it'll be interseting. I wouldn't go chasin those new 5.0s too soon tho.

While I love the sounds from LTs & cat-back, if I had to pick 1 mod, even tho I have yet to do it (but will be soon), I think I'd do a cam if I was starting all over. While mods may support cam swap, the efans, CAI & cat-back exh won't match it.

Be smart about it.

I'll pass no matter what. It's called connections. and my vehicle is not registered anywhere near CA but I do reside here... for the time being.

Do you have exhaust that is louder then stock dB level?

well guess what then? It's NOT legal.

If you want to play it by the book ALOT of aftermarket mods are not legal at all.
