Default need some info from those with 01ls6 cams

I take you didnt need any tuning, but of coarse tuning would make more HP im sure.

This would be going in a 04 ECSB 4x4. Im getting a TB 2600 sometime shortly also, so I take that would make up for any low end loss and them some? Those with the cam, did you replace the springs? I was wondering if new stock springs would hold up good enough?

also, how much gain and how much did you raise the shift points?

I think it's going to be a dog down low

Z06 springs are cheap. I'd get those while you're at it.

It was for me.

I had an 02' Z06 cam and while not as good for us as the 01' it was still kinda blah on the bottom end. I swear it didn't start to pull hard till 4k+rpm. With a 3000 stall I had to wait for nearly 1000rpm before it would start to pull. Now with a full custom tune with increaed timing on the low end it might have been better but I just don't know.

IMO, look for a good used truck cam.

If you're dead set on the LS6 cam I'll sell you mine for $80+ shipping. Hahaha

thanks for the info.. i see the 02 ls6 cam is 117.5 LSA so thats way to high of a LSA for me.

I was wondering if advancing the 01 cam would help any?

ALRIGHT you want dyno proven #'s do a search on Z06 CAM. Big tex has dyno sheet that show's 30 hp gain and 20 tq.Most 212 cams only show that much and usually cost over $500 brand new with matching springs.Their are plenty of people running fbody cams with good gains such as GOSHAWK,V8 and others to name a few.Their cams are on 115.5 and the 01 CAM is a 116.You can usually pick up cam and springs for about $150.Advace that cam 4* just to offset bottom end.

I had MUCH better results with my 226/.535/112 cam than the Z06 cam.

Results are going to vary because of tuning and the setup on the truck. So saying it's a better cam than one designed for a truck and it's particular mods is wrong IMO. In a drag race truck peak power is fine but in a street truck with a tiny stall peak power is kind of a waste. A cam that makes 10hp less peak but 20more avg. is a better plan to me.
