Never Never buy a over the counter dumb dumb cam. sure they do what they claim (most of the time), but they are 90% of the time designed for ppl who just bolt and go.

Always go with a custom grind, you will get more usable power under the curve and its designed for your specific application.

I say search for a good deal on a lq4/lq9. Will probably make about 100 hp more with a good tune + bolt ons and a lot of low rpm torque you will never find with a 4.8. Plus you could EASILY add an additional 50-75 hp with and cam and valve springs. But with all that power your trans is on borrowed time

Boost it and stay away from on3 there's 5x more bad reviews then good KB or trick or a supercharger by time you buy all the other stuff and if you have to pay to get it installed for you you'll be around the same costs and can exceed your goal easy and like wolf said at the least get a better exhaust and at least get a shift kit to help keep the trans a little happier

For every bad review, there are 30 installs that went perfect.

Dont base your opinions on internet reviews. Put hands on or stfu about products.

Thank you my frind, have a nice day.

Internet reviews are a joke.... have to remember noone thats happy ever really writes a review, its the idiots that dont want to blame themselves for screwing something up, misinstalling something, or just made a misinformed purchase that will write a review!

Do somewhat agree to disagree with the off the shelf cam grind comment, most companies that sell cams, whether comp, btr, lunati, isky, etc, etc, etc are going to 9 times out of ten recommend something they have already formulated and have sitting on the shelf, so dont discount the over the counter camshafts, just speak to the company you are buying it from and see what they recommend! How many people are running a triple 12 cam, or some variation of it and are more than happy with it? Spend the time to fill out whatever cam recommendation form the comapny has and see what they have to say, whats the worst that could happen?

Pretty much this.....most "custom" cams are not some one off grind you and only you will recieve lol. They can be..... but 9 times of out 10 are a known good grind for the same or similar combo.
