Default need motor help.

alright here is the problem i have. i have an o2 silverado 2500HD 6.0l. i have an exhuast and intake mods, i don't drive it much. one day a buddy and i were screwing around with it and put nos on it. it ran damn good up until the solenoid stuck open and boom!!!!! i blew up my intake manifold and bent the flap on my tb. i put another intake on it and fixed my tb and it started right up no problems. i drove it to the house everything was fine, then a couple days later i drove it to my buddies house and before i got there it started knocking real loud. it sound to loud to be in the bottom end. it sounds like its in the heads (rocker, push rods, spring???) it still runs but has a miss when running.

i am tempted to pull the motor, and go through it. i was just curious what the best route would be. i am thinking about putting a forged crank and a set of rods in it with a set of diamond pistons??? i don't so much want to stroke it but build it up at the same time. where should i look for parts, etc???.

also my heads i want to have ported and polished. where is a good shop to have this done.

fuel??? i ahve no idea where to start. tb bigger? maf? inj? fuel rails? fuel pump?

cam size?

i am planning on putting an magna charger on it in a couple of months just was needing info on the best place to start

Fix what's busted on your truck. Build your "dream engine" in your garage.

Was it dry or wet? Bet you blew a hole in a piston. I did.

I agree. While you are in there, I would build it up if you have the time and cash. Forged pistons and rods, rod bolts, head bolts, cam, and pushrods. If you plan to go FI, I wouldnt bother with heads. That would be a pretty stout setup. Check out the sponser list to the right, any of them can get you what you need. You will also be in need of a good tune.

Green is right, I would not do too much to the heads if you go FI. You won't realize the gains for the cost of the head work.
There are soooo many forged parts out there now and even stock ones from 402 build ups. Concentrate on the rods, all bolts, cam, and pistons. Even the +0.030 bore is easy and still lots of parts out there. The 4.00" stroker kits are still up there, $2K, but again they have all the parts you are looking for and could easily get you 400+ HP before the FI.
Good luck, let us know how things turn out!

appreciate the feedback.

i think i am going to stick with forged stock replacements (crank and rods), upgrade all bolts and probably put a set of diamond pistons in it. i don't want to stroke it, due to being a heavy *** truck, i just want a good strong combo that will help out in power. i am in the process of lifting it and putting a set of 40'' 's on it. i need the power to turn the tires with ease.

i plan on fi, but as far as fuel, tb, mass, etc? where would i start?

by the way it was a dry shot.

uuummmm..... so are you going with a forged 364 with FI or a 402 heads and cam? No sweat... most guys on here change their mind 3 times in a day about what setup they want. You should try and find someone who had each kind of setup that you are considering and go for a ride. There are quite a few ancillary mods that you are going to need with each setup, so do some real research first.
