Default Need more torque!!!

What's up everybody. I have been searching around this website for some good opinions. There is a lot of opinions. It seems you guys really know your stuff.

I have a 03 2500HD with the 6.0L V8. It is my dd, however I live in the stupid mountains and tow a trailer with a rockcrawler on it, so no matter which way i go i have to drive over a mountain pass.

This truck sucks when it comes to towing over mountain passes.
I am trying to seek your opinions on a good way to improve the h/p and mostly torque. The threads I have seen on here seem to be mostly to improve h/p.

Right now this truck has a cai, handheld tuner (which i have found on this site was a waste of time), TB spacer (which is also a waste of time) magnaflow exhaust.

I have been thinking of maybe doing a cam swap that would help or maybe a turbo kit from STS. I am performance minded, however I am just looking to improve on the towing side of performance.

Any help would be awesome!!

Long tube headers (shorties will not help torque) and a small cam should get you where you need to be. I'm currenlty searching for a nice small cam to improve gas mileage but I was recommended one that is supposed to be very torque oriented. 218/214 on a 114lsa, from Lloyd Elliott, curious to see if anyone will have a better recommendation with some reasoning to back it up. Like you've found most people are only doing it for high hp gains and us non racing folk get pushed to the side because we're such a small market.

I was thinking for a cam upgrade for the cheaper route. If i do a cam upgrade, can i do it with everything else stock?
I am not trying to make my truck a race inspired vehicle, but boy would i love to-got to keep it dd for now.
With long tube headers how is everyone running their exhaust. 1 on each side of the truck or running them along one side? Does anyone have pics?

You will need to do supporting hardware such as pushrods, retainers and springs. Other than that you don't have to change anything for the cam.

Bolt on a Magnuson super charger and you'll be good to go...

or you could stay NA and do the famous 212/218 cam (will work well in a 6.0 with the stock converter), or maybe the Vinci Trucker 216/224 .551/.551 115. As mentioned you'll need valve springs, but with the cams that I listed you could use the inexpensive yellow LS6 springs. I like hardened pushrods also.

Of course exhaust, long tube headers, custom tuning, etc. is a given
