interested in the outcome when you are done with it....

personally i would try and find the biggest oval case muffler that magnaflow or any other good flow brand, that you can get like a 30-36" one... if there is any.... i think they do make some for RV's and stuff...

Well since you're using a Wye pipe, it should already be quieter than stock.

not to go too far off-topic, but what does being "mature" have to do with how loud or quiet your truck is? not trying to argue or anything... i'm just curious.

It isn't necessarily always true, but go to any high school parking lot.

I know I was the steriotypical high school kid that wanted a loud exhaust and a loud sound system. I've since sold off my subwoofer setup and at one time I ran longtubes with no cats and a bullet muffler. Now I run a stock muffler.

I know for me as I got older, I became more concerned with having a fast truck than having a truck that sounded fast.

I too have become interested in having a stockish quiet truck for daily driving purposes with cut outs for when I go to the track. I am not really amused at the fact I have to turn my truck off when I go thru a drive thru, or pull up beside someone so I can hear them. I love nothing more to have a truck that sounds like it could run 10's in the 1/4, but I also want to have something sensible when I'm cruising around town. To the OP, let me know what you come up with for a free flowing quiet exhaust, because I am definitely interested. Good luck!

How do stock DMAX mufflers flow and sound on a gas truck? Those engines stock run a lot more boost than us.

If you want to keep it quiet, a diesel muffler or a huge case muffler is the way to do it.. The Dmax mufflers flow pretty well, but are HUGE, a after market one will flow better naturally..
