Yeah I think he is talking about the L31/5.7 iron block.
I have the same motor in my 99 Tahoe.
I read how a guy did a hotcam in his p/u and lost a lot of bottom end torque.
I think that's it's probably not a good idea to go with a big split like the hotcam.
IMO I would go with like a 216/216/114, if you go too big the truck might not be good for towing... Anyone else?

Ok, I had a L31 in my '98. You are limited in lift by the heads. I installed a comp XR258R in mine. It is a 206in 212exh with a 480 488 lift. I changed the springs as well of course. I did not loose any low end with this cam but gained big time on top, over 3500rpm. No numbers, it just pulled much more than with the stocker.
I would recommend it if you don't want to pull the heads and have the spring seats and valve guides machined for a higher lift.
