You need a E38 computer to control the L96 and 6L90e properly and with minimal hiccups.

But if you do that, nothing much of anything else in your 2006 truck is going to function. The E38 uses can-bus to communicate with the BCM and the ABS system. So you won't have ABS anymore and the cluster stuff won't work anymore. And I'm not sure what you'd need to change for the AC system to function with the newer computer either.

Your better off finding a 6.0 with the same electrical architecture. That l96 speaks a different language, if you get one from a similar year it will plug right up for the most part and everything will work.

Easiest way to swap the L96 is to get the Lingenfelter 58X to 24X conversion box and the wiring harness adapters for the knock sensors and camshaft sensor.

Otherwise you have to open up the engine to convert to 24X reluctor wheel. And you still need the harness adapters.

Keep your 4 speed transmission.

Your gonna spend more going this route than selling what you have and starting over. You will not have any gauges with the swap your wanting to do, no ac or abs.

Ya, agree with @smokinlmm 💯 . But I guess at this point, you are at a loss no matter what...

If you read through the end of the TCM-24xx (?) thread somewhere here, I "believe" the only work around is using the Holley aftermarket ECU controller? Don't quote me on that.

@arthursc2 may provide some advice.

Good luck.

Yes, and the Holley is big money it pays to do a ton of research before buying any parts.
