need help lq4 timming marks

Default need help lq4 timming marks

any one have a pic, of mark on cam gear . ever one says there is a dot , i dont see it mine looks like a notch. please help thanks

Have you checked your eyes recently? J/K. The round dot on the cam gear is pretty big. The one on the crank gear is a lot harder to spot. Yours has a dot, for sure. Ls1howto.com has pictures.

i will look again and take a pic . i seen the topic mine doesnt look like that is there something difrent about the 04 lq4

I would think that is it, although you didn't take a picture of the entire cam gear.

Make sure you wipe off the crank gear good.

Then i take a piece of chalk and mark both dots so its easier to line up.

But there is def. a dot on each gear.

That is the correct timing mark on the cam gear, Like Tim said clean everything perfectly and use a white crayon or grease pen to mark the dots, makes it alot easier to line it up when replacing them in the vehicle.
