My buddy has a 61 truck with a turbo 350 and carbed engine. He needs a new block but I recommended a 5.3 with 4l60e instead. I can locate a 5.3 and tranny with harness but what else is needed to make it work. He's mostly worried about electronics and would like to know what it takes to make it work and the approximate cost of parts needed besides engine and tranny. I have seen people with similar projects but could locate one using the search today.

I compared my build to that of having a bad *** 350 built from the bare block up, I was going to have $2K in it before it got in the truck.

I bought my 5.3/4L60E pretty cheap. Getting it in there isn't bad, going to need some minor fab work ( X member, notch frame for exh etc.. ) My biggest cost was the plumbing! I think I have just as much in my plumbing as my engine tranny cost me!
