Need a cooling system diagnosis
#1
Hey guys, I'll give the whole story so I don't leave anything out. My truck has been running at almost 210 the last few days, so I was thinking about the 6.0 radiator, but for now I bought a bottle of "Rampage Liquid Ice Radiator Treatment" and poured it in. I went to town and as I was sitting in the parking lot, I noticed the A/C wasn't working (fans as I find out later). So, I'm at the track racing, made 4 passes, and the truck is about 210 so I turn it off and look under the hood and there's a lot more heat then usual. So I try to get thru the staging lanes, and when I finally get around and bypass the track, the temp is up to 250!! So I park it, shut it off, and pop the hood and I notice the fan relay is toasted. Also the top radiator hose is very hard but it feels like hot air in it and not hot water. So I rig up the fans and make it home safely and fix the fans, and change the thermostat and refill it. When I pulled the Tstat, the water from inside the engine was smoking hot. I thought this would fix it for sure, but the top hose is still just getting hot air and no water. The overflow tank is full. When I squeeze the top hose, the water in the overflow tank moves. So what's the diagnosis?

take the little hose that goes from the radiator to the overflow tank off from the rad and see if coolant comes out of it. start up the truck if not and see if any comes out then. sounds like an air pocket has gotten into it due to overheating. hope this helps.
