I need a complete exhaust system, headers back, minus cats, for a 1997 Chevy 1/2 ton, extended cab step-side. Does anyone make such a beast? Also, I know not much can be done externally to help these anemic engines, but is there anything else?

 

you will have to have a shop do a custom exhaust if you want no cats . the stock pipes are very small . if you are running shorties the stock pipes from a 3/4 ton will bolt up they have cats but its almost 2 3/4 inches each pipe . instead of 1 7/8 -2 inch pipes the 1/2 tons came with . a pcm tune helps alot

 

What model Flowmasters do you have, and is it loud?

 

the original 40s not delta flows . yes its loud but drones like crazy . but it is cut off under the bed . i am thinking of switching to race bullets and kick it out the side .
