Is my poor truck a dud?

I have a 04 GMC Sierra EC, 5.3. It has 65k and is still factory stock... this poor thing is pitifull
Are they all like that stock, Itll barely burn out in the dirt and forget it on the road, Ive tried. When I punch it from a stand still, It sleeps for like a second or 2 and then speeds up like grandma. Will a CAI and a catback actually wake this thing up some or is it all in the tuning/ TQ management part of the PCM? Im not lookin for some street killa, but this thing has the performance of a 4 cylinder...lol.

im goin to guess its got 3.42s??
and have you checked your air filter and little things like that?
what size tires are on it?
Mine has a few things done to it, but when it was stock and my moms, it would still do nice burnouts with 255/70/16s..

air cleaner is all good. All the maintance stuff was done. Im not sure what gears it has. Its a Z71, if it matters. The tires are the stock size 17s. It feels like the PCM is killig it with TQ management.

Yes, with the tq management the power wll delay a couple seconds before it kicks in to save your tranny some. Get a tune like a nelson one and you will be a lot more satisfied. After that intake, headers, exhaust, cam, and stall. You could be high 13s or low 14s. RCSB trucks have run mid 12s with those. But it also depends on your gearing. If it is a Z71 I am thinking 3.73 gears.

Tune the TQ Mng out and maybe get a shift kit. If you dont really beat on it the shift kit might not be a top priority. However a shift kit cost much less that a tranny rebuild
I still dont understand why, even with TQ Mng, that a 3.73 rear and stock tires wont spin from a dead stop if you nail it. It may not be a smoke show but you should get 2-3 seconds of spin. Do you have traction control on your truck?
