Nice Kyle! I'm secretly hoping something would happen to mine It's been months since I built a motor and I just think i've got the itch.
I agree with the smaller cubes and better mileage. That is why I just stopped with a 6.0 and didn't go with a 408. It was $1000 cheaper to build as well.

BTW, your post looks like one of my 1am drunken threads.

The 6.0 isn't too bad on gas. I get the same mileage as the 4.8....roughly 13mpg. On the highway the 6.0 does great though, well over 23mpg. It never has to pull out of OD like the 4.8 though.

Anyways, I wanted to ask you about your 080 cam. I was thinking about putting that in my LQ9. I want big torque and throttle response down low. What are your thoughts? I'm waiting for a reply from roger on this matter as well (I was looking at either the 080, 112, or 062 - basically all the same cam except on 116, 114, 112 lsa respectively).

I really like it. I don't have a lot to compare it to as I've only had a stock cammed 4.8, then a LS6 cam, and this one. It does pull nice and has great low end. I really couldn't tell the difference going from the LS6 to this cam though. It idles like a stock motor and mileage is descent, I haven't been getting the mileage I think I should, but I'm gona work on the tune and see if I can get it back up some . Might just be my right foot though,

Here is Roger's reply to my question about which cam. I hope he doesn't mind me posting this:

You have made a couple of good choices. The cam with the most torque would be:
The VHP 080. It has a rather smooth idle, but great fuel economy.
The VHP 112. Has more power in the mid range and top end but is softer on the bottom end and a nice "drive in" idle, also.
The VHP 062 is not recommended for automatics or heavier vehicles. It has a very rough idle.
All of the cams will work with the stock LS6 springs if they have very low mileage. We have a great replacement beehive spring that will work with stock seals, seats, locks, and retainers. It is much stronger than the LS6 spring and will take over .600 lift.
In summary, if you can stand a little less torque at the bottom and are looking for a "ruppity rupp" idle, the 112 is the cam for you. If you are looking for high bottom end torque gains and a pretty smooth idle the .080 is the one for you.
Let me know which way to go.
Roger

I just don't know if the 080 cam is going to be a significant gain over stock up top.

Also, mind telling me a little more about your turbo kit. What else would I need to complete it. What's my end cost I'm looking at?
