This is after a drive to school and letting it sit about 2 hrs while taking a final. This is what GM calls normal noise. It doesn't burn any oil or anything like that, still runs great. Just makes a god awful noise.

58k miles and its just fine. Its done it since day one. I've threatend to drive it through the dealership showroom for an extended powertrain warranty, but they won't budge. Oh well. I'm not worried about it at all, just embarrassing sometimes.

Get the cam installed and at least you'll have a reason for the noise.

Mine Does It About Once Every Two Months. I Can Run Some Top Engine Cleaner Through It And It Stops. Something Like Bg Or Wynns Or Just The Pour In Top Engine Cleaner From Gm. Its Worth A Try. It Has A Little Tick But Not A Loud Knock.

Ive always stayed away from additives but when mine started knocking I put in a quart of synthetic Lucas stabilizer with each oil change. After the second change the knock went awat and has never come back.

I hear them like that all the time. My truck does it and so does my wifes. Some of the noise is just a characteristic of the engine design. The corvettes, camaros and TA's do it too. Usually when it gets really noticable its from carbon build up. See if the dealer will perform a top engine clean on it as a one time goodwill gesture. You may have to leave it overnight. We like to let ours sit overnight with the cleaner in it so it can really break down the carbon good.
