Muffler Question

Need a little help.
I was thinking of replacing the Flowmaster 70 muffler that I have on my truck with a Hooker Maximum Flow muffler. Both are 3" in/out. The concern I have is that the Hooker is quite a bit smaller than the Flowmaster. This gives me less material to dissipate the heat with. The Flowmaster does get pretty hot. Should I be concerned or should I just stop thinking and put the thing in?

Definatly stop thinking about it. A muffler of any kind is going to get hot. If you want more power then Flowmaster is the WORST muffler to have. Even the cheap Cherry Bomb outflows them. Get the Hooker, you will feel a nice gain up top.

Thanks for the input, guys. I want good flow out of as quiet a muffler as I can get. I heard some good things and saw some good numbers on the Hooker. I have a Flowmaster 70 and it just resonates too much for me at around 2k rpm. It has to go. I have no experience with the Magnaflow mufflers. Any input on those?

nope, yeah their loud but they sound very good and flow damn well to. I don't like the popping and woosh sound at full throttle from glasspacks. My truck now has alot of tone or roar to it and it's no unberable on the highway if you know how to drive it.
