I keep the stock piping it's just the muffler inlet and outlet are 3" so that's why I was asking if my next muffler should be 3" or 2.5"
I have a 2003 silverado LS with a specter CAI and a flowmaster 10 series dumped behind the axle, it's black with tan leather interior and I should be putting on my new oem wood and leather wrapped steering wheel.

But it really depends on your plans with the truck and how loud you want it but you really can't go wrong with magnaflow or aerochambers

i got a magnaflow 22 with single 3.5 in/out also but with 1 7/8 headers, no cats, dual 3 inch pipes into flowmaster y merge 3.5 out to mag 22 its not as quiet as most would think.
like timz said above there are alot of factors to consider when it comes to overall sound and its not just about the above but also if you have tailpipe and tailpipe design.

I'm running this muffler, with some cheap VHT flameproof paint for protection.
eBay-Jones Max Flow SS
I used to be all Magnaflow all-the-way, but I've these max flow mufflers on 2 vehicles now (the other is 2.0" SI/SO for the car in my sig). They are more aggressive in dB level, but great for our trucks IMHO.
