Default motor swap wire left over

A buddy of mine blew his 5.3l and put a new one in. After the install he says (over the phone im 3 hours away so not there) that their is a plug on the back of the motor, between fire wall and motor, that he can not find a plug for. THeir are three wires going into this one plug, they are red, pink and brown. The plug has a white top with a black insert. I know this is horrible description but he says he can not find anything for it to go to.

The truck turns over for a few secs for it starts. It does not fire right off the turn of the key. It will idle but when you go give it gas it dies.

cam sensor connector

If it is the map sensor, this is what it would plug into. It is also a 3 wire plug

The colors are going to vary. Just tell him to check the top of the intake manifold near the rear (under the plastic cover), and to check back behind the intake manifold in the center, mounted to the top rear of the block. There will be a tall oil pressure sensor, and next to it in a little indention will be the cam sensor. It might be hard for him to reach/see it, but it's there.
