Default MORE HD Radiator q's...

I may have located one for very cheap but need to know a few more things...

1. Is this rad about 40" long total? 34" core?

2. Single aluminum core or dual?

3. Comes in Suburbans, Tahoe's, etc.?

Thanks!

1. Yeah, probably real close to 40" long overall. I can measure sometime later today when I wake up.

2. Single aluminum core

3. I think some Subs and Hoes come with them but, don't know what models.

XLR8NSS. You have once again helped me out.

Sweet, I think I finally found the radiator then! Whoohoo! Now I must choose, and choose wisely (like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade) on what thermostat to use. 160 or 180. 180 and water wetter maybe...as I think a 160 and that huge radiator may give me too low of temps.

I too need to go to sleep... Tengo que trabajar por la mañana. (Have to work in the morning). LOL

No tengo que trabajar por la mañana .

I have the 160° thermo with this radiator and my temps on the highway stay around ~170°. If it's hot/warm down there most of the time I would just go with the 160°. If it gets COLD and you like heat the 180° may be a better choice.

I'll get a few measurements for you to check sometime tomorrow afternoon.

My Spainish isn't the best as I speak this "Spanglish" version of it being from Texas! lol. But hey I try...too bad I took French in Junior High and High School. Ah well, at least the university I go to offers Spainish so I will be taking some there prolly within the next few semesters.

Well like it hits the low 100's for highs in the summer and 40's for lows in the winter...Texas is one messed up place! hahaha.

I think I will just go with the 180* one, 170* seems a bit low on the freeway to me...or is this okay? Heck I am the most confused at this point on the thermo's

Ok, the core is almost exactly 34" wide. Then the top mounting tabs are 40.5" from outside to outside. The core is almost 19" tall.

Texas isn't that messed up. We hit near 100 for highs in the summer and it can get down in the teens for lows in the winter.

I haven't noticed any problems or loss of fuel mileage running that cool. When I sit in traffic the temp will rise to 185 or so where the fans are set to turn on. Then it will cycle back and forth as the fans cool it down and it heats back up. I think you could get by with a 160 thermo if 40's are as low as it gets in the winter. You might have to turn the heat up a notch or two higher but, it should be OK. I'm going to leave my 160 in for this winter and see how the heat works. If it runs too cool a small piece of strategically placed cardboard would take care of that.

Hahaha...My Spanish isn't the best either. 4 years of Spanish in high school and nothing to show for it. LOL

I have seen it down near the 20's here but usually not that bad, too bad it hasn't rained here in ages...sooo much crap floating around in the air right now.

Since you know a lot about cooling systems...how much of a temp increase do you think I'd get if I went with a 180* thermo when using the 34" cored rad over a 160*?

The sad part is I know just a few things in French anymore...how to say my name and where is the bathroom! Oh man, I really want to learn Spainish.

I would start out with the 160 and if it's too cool you can always block off a little bit of the radiator with a piece of cardboard.

If you go with the 160 you can always "make" it run hotter but, if you go with the 180 you can't make it run cooler.

What type of controls do you have for your fans and what temps do they turn on?

Would I just stick that piece between the rad and A/C condensor?

Should I try to buy an acutal 160* thermo or try to mod another stocker? That mod didn't work for me at all...

Okay I am running the Hayden adjustable thermo Relay with A/C wire and adjustable thermostat. Ideally I'd like to hook my fans to the ECM via EDIT...hopefully I will be able to get that within a few months. If not, I am going to go to a VSC. They come on now at ~191* with the stock thermo
