Default Modding a new SS Silverado....

My brother has a '03 SS Silverado and he hates that it isn't faster. He has LT headers a cold air intake and true duels with to Chokemaster muffers. He is wanting to get a converter and was wondering how much of a gain he should expect with a Yank Truck converter w/3000 stall. Do any of you guys have modded SS's with numbers and or guesses?

The 3000 stall really woke my truck up. I gained about 2 tenths in the 1/8. which i think usually comes out to about .4 in the 1/4. And ran a 14.8 1/4 with the converter and UPD intake. But you really need some tuning, the torque management really kills the 1-2 shift. You could gain at least another 2 tenths (probably more) if you do some LS1 edit tuning when the converter goes in. Cams really seem to wake these motors up as well. Or get a supercharger.

You kidding with all wheel drive, you should absolutely go high in the stall, cause traction will not be a problem, and then it will get rid of the slow launch! I have seen two of them run at the track, and they do take off slowely. I ran against one, and he beat me for about 10 feet, and then I took him nicely. It is like it somewhat jumps off the line and then runs out of juice or something. With the High stall it will be right in the powerband at launch, and will launch much harder and not fall flat, just revved up till the shift.
