milling 317s to match 243's cc
#12
any one done this or something similar?
I'm wanting to get some heads for a LS1 5.7 bore. (5.3 bored to a 5.7)
I'm trying to get around paying a higher price with the 243s. This is a budget build for a 2000 s-10 project. I want to use a 226 Patriot cam. I'm wanting 64cc chambers, just like the 243s, but without the price.
So far I'm using stock flat top Ls1 pistons, and that's it. It's either the milled 317s, or do some home ported/milled 241s.
I currently have both sets of heads. (317 and 241)

What do you call high price? Just buy a NEW set of 243's and be done with it. $450 to your door from patriot. Comes equipped with new yellow Z06 springs as well.

We might just have to force Erik to do that lol. I can't wait to see everything finally go into the truck and start it up. Should be a fast little truck with traction.

Lookin forward to tuning the truck when it's all done Erik. Those 243's are a good deal, I might have to get some too

btw, got an idea for your ram air setup in the truck. Also, you got a parts list goin yet? If you haven't gotten a PCM/harness lemme know and I'll find the right one for ya.

get it set up right and call up wheatley performance for a tune. he can get it dialed in perfect no problem.
with those cubes and your weight i would go bigger than a 226 cam. i have a 226 cam and LOVE it. if i were a single cab i would have the 228 and if i were as light as a s10 i would be in the 230's. go bigger IMO. it will take some away from the bottom end to put the power where you can use it. a big smoke show lauch is useless. with a truck that light take some away from the bottom and put it up top IMO.

ha whatev. It might be hard to tune due to traction issues haha. I IM'd Zach to see if there's a good inexpensive rearend setup to run vs. your stock rearend. A DANA rearend would work, just depends on how much money you have after the swap and how soon your current rearend blows up
