Money for school is a good thing, trust me. I was in your situation while I was in college. It will be worth it when you get out.

ok well i did some extra driving over the weekend so i have the results of my windows up, a/c on test. turns out i got 345.2 miles to 24.017 gallons which translates to about 14.38 MPG. pretty big difference between a/c and windows so thats pretty interesting... this week im doing a/c off, windows up, since its a little cooler outside and we will see how good MPG i can get

When i go for a long drive with the A/C on and windows up in my truck i get over 21 MPGs and that is with a extended cab. I am curious why such a diffrence with your setup.

Well i think it might have more to do with the cam, stall and gears. the egine shouldnt make that bog of a diffrence. I have a friend exact same truck except he has the 5.3 and he gets the same mpgs.

What did you get when you were mostly stock?

stall wont affect anything highway as long as its locked up. mind you, i do have some lock-up holding issues but not enough to make THAT big of a difference. i couldnt tell you what i had when it was stock. my dad owned the truck from new until 2004 and then i pretty much immediatly started messing with it.
