Default me vs. RCSB 5.3...I'm confused

How much faster (if at all) should I really be than a RCSB 5.3 ?? , the reason that I ask is because a few days ago I was in Las Vegas on West Tropicana and a red RCSB pulled up beside me at a light, the truck had at least an exhaust and maybe tuning (shifted 1-2 alot harder than normal), from the light to 65 I pulled him by 2-3 truck lengths, between lights he tried 3 or 4 times to pass me and every time I could pull on him hard enough to keep him at least 1 truck length behind me (even with his head start)...he WAS trying EVERY time and when I finally LET him pass me he gave me a thumbs up and a smile (gotta love good loosers)

Now to me it seems that with just tuning, an exhaust and an intake I shouldn't be THAT much faster than a much lighter truck (I weight 5660 with a full tank of gas..he was prolly ~4600)...so what gives??, am I REALLY making THAT much more power (it does seem ALOT stronger than it did stock), and are tuning and the higher shift points worth that much in terms of street performance

and.....assuming that I really did gain that much with just basic bolt-ons JUST WHAT THE HELL KIND OF GAIN am I going to see from the cam, P&P 6.0 heads, and LS1 intake swap ?? stop signs and red-lights are already an excercise in frustration due to the over-abundance of torque I have now !! (even with a crappy 2.48:1 1st gear)

Are you comparing between a 2wd or 4wd? Evil has a an EC HD 2wd truck with a 6.0, 410's and posi. I have a RCSB 2wd w/5.3 and 373's, no posi. I walk him hard out of the hole and all the way down the track. There's a good reason for this, his truck weighs 5600 lbs, mine weighs 4550.

Good kill Yelo.

What DA are your times from? I'd say if you are running faster than that, at 2k plus feet you have yourself a RCSB killer. Even if that time is corrected you are right in the midst of what stock ones run.

There are just too many variables to your quandry. Really all you know is that it was a rcsb with a v8 because of his exhaust note right? It could have been a 4.8 or 5.3, nobody knows. That would put that truck in a 1/4 mile range of anwhere between 16.0-14.0 depending on motor and mods. The only way you are going to know about your truck is to put it on the track again... so get going.

Hardtop...I have a 4wd 2500 (read the sig for mods), the RCSB looked to be a 2wd, I am assuming it was a 5.3 but it may have been a 4.8 (even if that was so it should have pulled on me harder than it did)

Seeing Red Again...that time is corrected and was achieved at LVR (it was the EXACT same time that I ran with a G-Tech Pro at our local airstrip...I posted the time from the G-Tech and then about 2 months later ran at LVR to see if the thing was accurate)

BigKID...I will get to the track in the next few weeks to see what kind of gain I have achieved...I'll let you know

when me and hardtop ran, i ran a 15.8 to his 15.0. we have the same mods, both just have a upd. his truck just gets up and leaves me everytime. we hit the scales after the track his was 4600 and mine was almost 5600. i think maybe i need to get some edit tuning on mine just to wake it up a little.

what free mods do you have done?
