Unhappy May have lost the engine (no April fools this time)

Posted in the Gen3 section for more eyes & ears.

SBE LQ9 with heads, cam and exhaust.

Just installed a triple disk last week and now I have a knock or rattle.

@MaroonMonsterLS1 suggested I unbolt the converter from the flexplate to silence everything converter back.

The last two times yesterday and today, starting while cold, the engine stalled numerous times. It's always fired right up and never stalled until now. Even with the flexplate disconnected from the converter it's stalling during cold startup.

Video shows idling with the converter connected and without. I think I can hear the same rattle but not as loud while unconnected.

Red you know now I really feel bad about you jinxing yourself with that April fool's joke

Have you pulled the valve covers? Does the knock increase with RPM? It didn't seem to on the video but I could not tell

I can definitely hear the exact same rattle at the exact same tempo. Man that sucks. Like @shakenfake said, have you pulled the valve covers yet?

Haven't pulled the covers as of yet.

Filter cutter should be here tomorrow, should tell if it's a bearing or not. I've driven about 60 miles since the converter install and it keeps getting louder.

That sucks man. Did you do a compression check and look at the plugs yet? The oil pressure and water temp gauges seem normal?

If it's a bearing I would think the oil temp would increase, but without having that normally monitored it'd be hard to tell if it's abnormal.

I assume you are waiting on the filter cutter to drain the oil?

Call me crazy but it doesn't seem to change with RPM. Or is the video just not picking it up that it does change with RPM? Anything valvetrain related would change the frequency of the knock/rattle with RPM, including a rotating assembly component. Did oil pressure drop any?

Really seems like you have something rattling perhaps not secured after doing the converter swap?

@ALL ULL C I'm glad someone else was thinking the RPM thing
The reason I said valve covers is because I wonder if perhaps a spring broke and it just slapping around in there. I would think there may be some more damage but you never know. Also especially since he says that it is stalling I would think that it has to be something engine related. No idea though

Trans cooler lines not bolted in right?
